Networking to me…

Social networking has become such an important part of our lives, at least I can say about mine. I cannot stay without being on facebook (fb) a single day and there would be many of us who would agree with me. But guys have we ever thought about this that being on fb is not what networking used to be 10 years back. I used to go for social meetings wherein we had people from all the ages. I never knew people around me but still there was some bonding with them. I still remember my first day at that this social gathering wherein I was asked to introduce myself and talk about my hobbies, I was so shy then but as time moved on I got the courage of speaking in the crowd. This was the place where we did so many things for the society right from arranging cricket tournaments to helping people affected from earthquakes or floods. Man I miss those days. This is where we learn the real management, which a book can never teach us.

Things have changed so much these days, back then I used to remember all my friends birthdays, telephone numbers but honestly not anymore, have to login to Orkut or Facebook to check if there is anyone’s birthday today or not. So sad I can’t even remember a date. Back then I used to personally meet or atleast call and talk to the person whose birthday was. But these days just a sentence on the wall on fb or a scrap on Orkut, That’s it…Honestly speaking we don’t even take the pain of writing the two words of “ Happy Birthday “, just copy paste it from someone’s scrap below and we are done with it. I know this isn’t right but this is how we have become these days. I have no point to prove. Its just that I feel we have lost the touch of practicality in networking. The so called “e-networking” is great but it can never take place of the text book networking which is not present in any textbook.

My day starts off with logging in to twitter and facebook and checking various updates and giving my expert comments on them :P Sometimes I tweet as Good Morning tweeple or Gn tweeple as if am a celebrity and thousands of people follow me. These days am having war with people on these networking sites whom I haven’t even seen. Getting into petty fights, supporting some of your friends, making fun of your friends when the upload their pictures etc. All these minor things are such waste of time but is so much fun to do all these things. So all my facebook and twitter friends, we rock but don’t forget my point of practical networking. See you all in sometime on fb. Till then.

Peace…
