Diversified Thinking

Hmmm am just thinking what to write on a boring Sunday afternoon. These days am going through rigorous sessions of economics, never thought a subject like economics would be so interesting all thanks to Mr. Azhar Khan, personally I don’t like his communist and anti-privatisation thoughts & I just hate him when he comments anything against our GOD Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar. However the way he teaches the subject is commendable. You guys must be wondering what the hell am I writing, at one point I say he is good and next moment he becomes bad. But you know Mr. Azhar Khan gave a fantastic definition of Economics in our lecture which I just loved it. Quoting his definition “Economics is a science of Human Behaviour that tries to reconcile between unlimited wants and limited resources that have alternative uses”. So true this is. We deal with economics everyday and we are not even aware about it. The existence of economics must have started right from the Adam and Eve era.

Speaking about human behaviour, coming to Pune for my studies is one of the better decisions I have made in life. I was not at all happy initially to come to Pune because I had never been away from family and was honestly bit scared about how would I manage to gel up with the new people. I have never been an extrovert, so my mom was also bit worried about me. But my bro he always wanted me to stay away from home and I hated him for that. But today when I write this blog, I understand why he wanted me to stay away from home. Am so thankful to him for helping me in taking all the decisions which I have taken so far. Being the youngest in the family I was very arrogant, stubborn and never listened to anyone. But I think am a changed person now, I hope even Ashu thinks the same.

All my engineering days I spent time with people I am comfortable with or in college terms we say “ Jisse frequency match hua uske saath raha “. But after coming to Pune I have understood it’s so important to gel with people of any frequency because these are the kind of people who would come across to you in future at your workplace. You have to be flexible enough to work with any person of any calibre. I never would have thought, thinking approach or the behavioural approach of a person can be so different for people coming from different parts of the country. This is the best thing am gaining from this MBA course, learning their behaviours. Had I taken admission in any college in Mumbai, I would have never got an opportunity to talk to people from states like Kerala, Jharkhand, Gujrat, Kolkata and many more. Man ! these people are so unique and different with their approach. Everyone has its own speciality and expertise. There are positives as well as negatives, but a coin would always have 2 sides. So many things to be learned from them. I always heard of Unity in diversity but had never seen or experienced it. Came to know exactly what we mean by that here. With 3 colleges in the SIC Campus including SIIB and SCMHRD, its great to interact with these great management minds, always a value add to us. It’s so good to learn about the various cultures of people from various parts of India, watch movies of languages which you don’t even understand but still manage to connect with them. It feels so good to be involved in functions like Onam, Dandiya night etc.

The point I want to make is we speak about regionalism, like some political leaders in Mumbai say “Mumbai fakta Marathi Lokanchi “all this is utter bullshit. India would never make progress if we have an attitude like this. We should not restrict anybody to go anywhere as long as it is our country. It’s simple if a child wants to learn to ride a bicycle, let him fall for couple of times, every time he falls he has not lost anything but he is gaining confidence and once he is through with it nobody in his entire life can make him forget how to ride a bicycle.
